Meeting Minutes for Mid-Atlantic Quarter Horse Association (MAQHA)
Meeting—Thursday, January 14, 2010

The second meeting of the MAQHA was called to order by Julie McCutcheon on January
14, 2010 at 6:30pm.

Meeting agendas and minutes from the December 2009 meeting were passed out.

Discussion for the parent association was opened.

The official name of the club will be The Mid-Atlantic Quarter Horse Association, otherwise
known as MAQHA.  Missy Bittner will be obtaining the previous bylaws before the next
meeting so that they can be looked over, changed if needed, and approved.

Nomination forms for officers were passed out.  All members present nominated for the
following office positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer,
Webmaster/Publicity, and Youth Adviser.   Julie McCutcheon will get approval of
nominations by each individual and voting will take place at the February meeting.

Membership forms were passed out to all attending the meeting.  It was decided that
forms and membership dues will not be due until the March meeting to allow for the
Association to get organized before taking dues.

Julie McCutcheon informed everyone that she has sent out an initial email to local horse
show organizers about the possibility of adding Quarter horse classes to their horse
shows.  Missy Bittner opened the discussion to hosting one-day horse shows.  The group
decided that hosting a few one day horse shows to start with would be more practical than
attempting a multi-day show.

The meeting was opened to discussion on fundraising suggestions.  Missy Bittner
suggested that most of the fundraising be done during the winter months as everyone
tends to be busier once horse shows begin.  Fundraising suggestions included; holding a
tack sale at Breezy Hill, selling MAQHA clothing items, large item raffles, 50/50 raffles,
basket bingo, hosting fun games at local horse shows, hosting a trail ride, and a raffle at
the New Years Eyler’s sale.

With no more discussion for the parent association, the meeting was moved to discussion
on the youth association.

Nomination forms for officers were passed out.  All members present nominated for the
following office positions: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer,  and Youth
Adviser.   Julie McCutcheon will get approval of nominations by each individual and voting
will take place at the February meeting.

The meeting was opened to discussion on youth activity ideas.  Suggestions included;
Congress NYATT Team, Horse Bowl, Judging, and Speech teams, and Regional Youth
Conference .  Discussion for specific activities will continue as the youth association holds
their own meetings.

The youth association will meet with the parent association until officers are elected. Once
officers are elected, the youth association will hold its own meetings while the parent
association meets.

The next meeting of the MAQHA will be held on February 11, 2010 at Breezy Hill Stables at
630pm.

With no more items to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
